Hey! :) Thanks for the blog ups, I have a crazy addiction to tumblr… Glad to hear someone is enjoying the chaotic random visuals that make up my tumblr haha.
I just recently acquired the position at Audrey… just a few weeks ago actually. I picked up the magazine because I knew the girl on the cover, and bought it immediately after skimming through it at barnes and nobles. I immediately fell in love with the vibe of the magazine, and knew I had to be a part of it somehow. I read through the staff/contributors page in the actual magazine, and saw that there were positions titled “online interns.” I emailed the editor in chief (got the contact information from the website) and she said there were openings available, and to send in my resume and three writing samples. An online intern is basically a writer for the website content, so writing skills are really important. I guess she liked my writing style, because the next thing I know, I got an email from her offering me the position. :) It is an unpaid internship, but I love that I am able to be a part of something so special.
If you are interested in any magazines, clothing brands, whatever, I advise you to definitely take advantage of contact links and email around to see if you could pick up an internship somewhere. That’s how I got all of my past internships. I’ve gotten internships at Hellz Bellz by emailing them, Merry Karnowsky Gallery by calling/emailing them, and I have an internship lined up for Contrast magazine right now too. It’s all about taking the initiative, and showing that you really care about what the company stands for. :)
Good luck with everything, and I hope this helps! <3
